Session: Driving Organizational Excellence with Conflict-Intelligent Leadership

Conflict Resolution is a deliberate and conscious effort that encompasses psychology, humanity, anthropology, and sociology. With the modern prevalence of conflict, there is no better time to gain conflict intelligence than now. This timely session comes with truths that seek to empower people in understanding alternative ways of handling different types of conflicts. It also illustrates how conflict resolution can impact an organization just as much as it does the individuals involved.

This session is for professionals who deal with people every day. Conflict cannot be avoided, but we should not let it escalate either. Professionals will see that conflict is not all that bad: with the right mindset and techniques, it can even improve relationships and organizational culture. With excellent conflict resolution skills, people can truly enjoy the communities they work in.

Bio

Yvette Durazo, MA, PCC is the author of the book Conflict Intelligence (Conflict-IQ™) The Missing Piece to Turbocharge Leaders’ and Organizations’ Emotional Intelligence. She is the principal consultant of Unitive Consulting, a workplace organizational effectiveness, strategic conflict management, and leadership development firm. She also collaborates with other consulting firms- In Accord in Portland, Oregon.
Yvette brings innovative techniques to promote a positive workplace culture in organizations to encourage trust, productive human capital engagement, and inclusion. Clients benefit from her wealth of knowledge and professional experience in the art of building a trusting workplace relationship. Some of her services include; training, mediating conflicts in the workplace, anti-bullying, settlement negotiations, developing dispute system design, and bringing unique strategies to address the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to the workplace.
Yvette is passionate about optimizing professionals and teams to engage in constructive problem-solving communication toward instilling respect, civility, and collaboration. She believes that human conflict is one of the most important things organizations must learn to harness and combat to avoid derailing of employees’ performance. Her methodologies are like a vitamin boost to the immunity of organizations.
Yvette is a Professor for the University of California, Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Extension for the Human Resource Management Certification Program and is the Chair of the Advisory Board for the program, she also teaches at UC Davis for the program in Conflict Resolution. She teaches Mediation Skills courses for undergraduate and master’s degree students at Portland State University as well. Former Adjunct Professor for the National University and the School General Council of the Judiciary in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico, in where she taught online and in-person Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Human Resources Management, Communication & Conflict Management, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ethics, Neutrality, Conciliation, and Mediation courses for over six years.
Yvette holds a PCC coaching credential by the International Coach Federation, a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, and Peacebuilding from the California State University Dominguez Hills, and an undergraduate degree in International Business from the San Diego State University. She is a certified HR Management, mediator, restorative justice facilitation, and non-violence communication specialist.
She is also the former ADR Program Administrator for the Superior Court of California, Alameda County; Executive Committee Member at the Alameda County Bar Association ADR Section; and tri-chair for the Wellness Section for the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR).
