Session: Failure is for the Fabulous

Fear of failing: it’s common, can be paralyzing, and is the source of many damaging behaviors. While failures are often unavoidable, they can be a catalyst for opportunity. For example, Bill Gates and Paul Allen’s experience starting their failed company, Traf-O-Data, prepared them to launch Microsoft a few years later. Reflecting on this, Paul Allen stated “In my experience, each failure contains seeds of your next success - if you are willing to learn from it”.

So if we’re destined to experience failure, what can we do to turn those failures into future success?

Join senior engineers from Intel, Microsoft, and Solidigm for a panel discussion on our most fabulous failures! We’ll share our personal stories and how we’ve cultivated the “seeds” of our failures and turned them into growth opportunities. Bring your questions, share your stories, and engage with us as we tackle failure head-on.

Key Takeaways

  • Name three categories of failure and identify which ones are preventable, unavoidable, and even praiseworthy.
  • Increase your ability to recognize opportunities when failures do happen and evaluate what lessons can be extracted.
  • Apply practical strategies to overcome the fear of failing and change your mindset around failure.
