The time it will take to close the gender gap has widened from a worrying 99 years in 2020 to an alarming 135 years or more. For many, the thought of waiting four or five generations for gender equality to be achievedis unacceptable. With conscious, dedicated effort we can and must speed up the pace of change.
Women face an impossible constellation of barriers simultaneously: an unequal distribution of responsibilities at home, structural and cultural obstacles in the workplace, and pressure to conform to outdated gender norms.
Shape Talent's research has identified the three types of barriers preventing women from being represented equally at senior leadership levels. The research explores the societal, organisational and personal barriers that limit women’s career development.
Drawing on a 5000+ data point study, the Three Barriers research explores the lived experience of women across eight industries.
