Nowadays, automating production processes is often only a minor challenge from a technical point of view. However, the success of any process flow involves not only the appropriate technical prerequisites and corresponding framework conditions, but also quite decisively the successful cooperation of all project and process participants.Here it is noticeable that within the manufacturing industry, especially in the brownfield sector, there are difficulties that contrast with the technical possibilities of implementing automation projects.
Where does this divergence come from between the operational professions and the information technology professions that must work hand in hand in automation. And what can be done to overcome these cultural differences and successfully introduce and establish automated processes. I provide answers.

Emely Übler holds a degree in engineering for computer sience in engineering applications and has been working in the field of marking & coding technology since 2008. After working in R&D, project management and as a quality manager and auditor, she is currently responsible for coding technologies as a product manager at Koenig & Bauer Coding in Veitshöchheim (Bavaria). In addition to coding system equipment, she is responsible for software, automation and digitalization.
